Old houses and narrow paths

Most of Alamo Heights was built in the twenties through the fifties. The homes are lovely and the hallways are narrow. Doors are shorter than modern furniture expects, and a lot of houses have a detached garage at the back of a long driveway. Our crews here bring the smaller dolly and take doors off hinges when a piece will not turn the corner.

Because Alamo Heights is a separate city, its public works department, not San Antonio's, handles the curb. Rules on what can sit out front and when are different from the rest of the metro. When a pile is more than the curb allows, or the house is going on the market and cannot have junk out front, we take it straight from the room to the truck.

Estate jobs and downsizing

A large share of our Alamo Heights work is families clearing a parent's home after decades in it. Attics, closets and garages here are full, and a lot of what is inside is worth donating. We sort as we go, set aside anything that looks personal, and pull furniture for donation before the rest goes on the truck.
